Essential Guide – Relocating to Leeds

With some great Creative and Digital Agencies, Leeds is a central location City with some fantastic opportunities.

As a North Leeds lass I absolutely love living in Leeds and can think of endless reasons why you should too!

If you’re relocating for your new dream job or simply heading back up north from the big smoke you will be spoilt for choice with some great locations to live and a great selection of schools (and only a couple of hours back on the train to Kings Cross!)

So, here are our top 10 reasons to move to Leeds.

1. Absolutely no compromise on career opportunities

With global organisations like HSBC, Sky and Walmart there’s no shortage of great career opportunities. And with the agency scene as buoyant as anything you’ll see in Shoreditch, why would you consider anywhere else?

2. Quality of life

No ridiculously long commutes on packed tubes and trains in Yorkshire. In most cases you can drive and park within minutes of your office or if you choose to commute in on the trains then there’s ample parking at all the regional stations.

3. Leafy surroundings a stone’s throw away

From city centre to rural countryside is a 15 minute drive. Or if you need it closer to home then one of the biggest public parks in Europe, Roundhay Park, is no more than 10 minutes from the city centre.

4. Bars, clubs and restaurants

If it’s Michelin starred restaurants you’re looking for or some of the best nightlife in the UK then Leeds would be a perfect place for you. Michael O’Hare’s ‘Man Behind The Curtain’ restaurant is internationally acclaimed gaining its Michelin star within a year of opening.

5. Shop ‘til you drop

You might think you need to be in central London to enjoy the luxury of brands such as Louis Vuitton, Harvey Nichols or Vivien Westwood but no. All of these and many more are within the compact city centre shopping arcades. And that’s not to mention the amazing Trinity and soon to be completed Victoria Gate.

6. Tour De Yorkshire

Cycling fans or sports enthusiasts in general will find some amazing events running throughout the year in Yorkshire, the pinnacle being the, now, world famous Tour. The Brownlee Brothers now have their own Triathalon Series based in Gods Own County!

7. Fitness and fun

We are lucky enough to have some of the most visionary gym owners in the UK including Primal Gym down by Leeds Dock. Not only an amazing gym but a different perspective on personal training. Their Primal Stampede is a must attend event every summer for those fanatically fit and those just wanting some fun fitness.

8. Culture

Yorvik Viking Centre, The Royal Armouries, the Playhouse Theatre and the often overlooked Thackray Medical Museum (my personal favourite!) are just a few of the great places you can visit to top up on your culture.

9. First Direct Arena

Yes, we’ve all got arenas and venues in our cities but not many better than the FD Arena. World famous acts tread the boards and with it’s unique design, you’re closer to the action than anywhere else in the world even if you’re in row Z!

10. The friendly folk of Yorkshire

Known as straight talking, friendly and welcoming, you can’t beat the folk in Yorkshire who’ll welcome you with open arms, whatever corner of the world you come from.

Moving careers and locations are possibly two of the most stressful things you’ll do in life. Why not make it easier by getting in touch with one of our consultants first to see how we can help.
