So – I was invited by the lovely Charlotte Britton to attend the IOD Meet Up at the City Inn last night.  Firstly City Inn is a great location.  I still worry about the name and the branding behind it but once you are there it is all good!  When I arrived a decent number of people were already there.  Other than speaking to Charlotte I was introduced to Chris Mercer-Jones who runs a training company – 80:20....thoroughly nice chap and Omar Hamdi from Honeypot Digital – an SEO Consultancy.  He has an interesting business model in his market of pay-on-results which would be appealing for many clients.  I then went on to talk to Lisa-Mari Jones – a ‘virtual’ IT Director (I’m thinking I should become something virtual – sounds good…).  We had a lot in common in terms of business and how things should be run.  And also John Acey who runs a project management consultancy.  I thought the evening had a really good blend of informality and business opportunity and will definitely be attending again.  The light and airy setting of the Sky Bar helped the evening along and I’ll definitely be back there too!
