Life in 2009 - the end of the decade

The year was 2009, Obama had just been named as the 44th president of the United States, Avatar made its way into cinemas and Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech at the VMAs. But can you remember what you were doing 10 years ago? We thought it would be fun to ask our team.

Nadia - 10 years ago I was at Lee Creative as Marketing Manager/Account Manager – managing marketing and PR campaigns for the likes of Hull Trains, the Hull & East Riding Stop Smoking Service and Willerby Holiday Homes. A very busy role for a lovely agency which sadly no longer exists.

Lauren - Starting my first year at The Open University and working in an Italian Café earning £3 an hour as I was 14/15 so they definitely took advantage ☹!

Georgia -  I was in year 8 at high school, loving all things dance and drama.

Julie – I was just about to go on maternity leave!

Jak - Working in a Hi-Fi shop and installing home cinema systems in biiiig houses.

James P - Graduated from university and took a year out to work in a bar… grasped onto the lifestyle for one more year! TAKE ME BACK

Harjit – I was working for a competitor shhhhhhh…

Angela - working at Gratterpalm who are now called CreativeRace in their production team

Lucy – In 2009 I went to college, got my first ever job (woo go me), was allowed to have my hair cut how I actually wanted it and not how my mum wanted it, started college doing 4 A-levels… all grown up!

Jonathan R – Managed a team specialising in all telephony based sales and customer service positions.

Emma - Went to VEGAS for the first time, friends’ wedding, by Elvis! Worked here at The Book – celebrated 5 years!

Dom - 10 years ago I was living the high life as an 18 year old down in London! Working in advertising for Haymarket Media as my first job out of school!

Shelley  - 10 years ago I was in my final year of secondary school! Getting my GCSE results, finishing my school prefect and (bus prefect duties – would you believe). To then finding the perfect dress for my year 11 prom (which definitely was not the perfect dress looking back). Probably one of  my scariest years moving to a new school and then learning to drive!

Tommy -  18th Birthday looking fab as ginger spice. Claimed Greater Manchester Golf Matchplay Championship. September 20th 2009 – United 4-3 Manchester City – Last Minute Owen Winner – and met Ian Brown before the game.

Zack - I had finished school in the summer and started at college!

Sarah - In 2009 I was here at Network Marketing - I’m in my 17th year of working here!  My sons were 6 and 2 then  - they seem all grown up now!

Becki - I was working at Randstad Recruitment – Senior Consultant, specialising in Social Care & getting ready to go to Oz for Christmas and New Year!

We hope you have all had a great decade and are looking forward to everything 2020 has to hold.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone at Network Marketing.
