Monkeylectrics Light Up Your bike

Courtesy of our friends at Inkling we just had to share this great new technology called Monkeylights by Monkeylectrics. Now, we know we have a load of fanatical cyclists following our blog, not least our very own Teejay Jones, so when are we going to see some of these on bikes in the UK? http://youtu.be/z0eoxaZiEic Happy cycling!…

Midlife Crisis - Not for our marathon runner Jonathan Robinson!

Approaching 40 isn’t necessarily a huge milestone for me. Yes it will be a chance to throw a big party and over indulge but growing older has generally just been about a number. I’ve seen the clichéd depictions of middle aged men in fast cars but for some reason my mid life crisis took the form of a marathon. Having never done one I had no idea but Lycra seemed much more befitting.…

Have Leeds Trinity Missed A Trick?

I walked past the new Leeds Trinity shopping arcade when it opened a week or so ago (I didn't venture in...) and it was packed. The great and good of Leeds were there including the new "Mr Leeds", @stuartclarkeuk reporting on this most momentus occasion for Leeds. One of the big draws apparently was the Apple shop.…

Secret Recordings, A Chef And The Home Office - A lesson for Agencies…

For this month’s post I thought I would do an actual case law update. This is not because I am short on material but because it coincides with two new cases that are both ‘legally interesting’ and will likely be of interest if you are running a marketing agency or similar where employees deal directly with your important clients. I apologise in advance if you clicked on this post in the hope of reading juicy tales of political espionage. Unfortunately, no former Cabinet ministers (or their ex-wives) were sent to prison in either of these cases… The first case involves something of a legal myth. Individuals or organisations who are the subject of covert film or other recorded footage without their knowledge, often argue that the recordings of their activities are inadmissible in legal proceedings. And in my experience, that is the general view that most people hold.…

Stop Slagging Off the Gritters - Elvis is on their side!

This video needs very little introduction but we'll do it anyway. Of all the thankless tasks in the UK economy, the role of the gritters must be near the top of the list. You see them gritting when there's no snow and then when we have a deluge, they're no where to be seen (allegedly!) Watch the following to put a smile on your face and appreciate the work our council workmen do to keep the streets clear in the snowy winter months in the UK!…

We like this - Yarn Bombing by Olek

LOVE! It's an oldie but a goodie, artist Olek takes on Wall Street. Olek is a New York based Guerrilla artist who specialises in yarn installations and sculptures. Except her work is anything but twee. Her best known pieces include covering the Wall Street bull with bright pink crochet in the dead of night and an apartment where the residents and contents seem to be made entirely of yarn.…

The Economic Cycle and the Bradley Wiggins Effect

During the summer, it was almost impossible to get away from the stars of British cycling, from Bradley Wiggins becoming the first Brit to win the Tour de France, then winning Olympic gold together with Hoy, Pendleton, Trott, Kenny et al. Since then, we’ve seen an increase in the number of cyclists commuting to work, alongside an increase in requests to improve the cycling infrastructure in our towns and cities. But does encouraging people to cycle to work make economic sense, both for cities and companies?…

The text message is all grown up

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Text, Happy birthday to you!! So, text messaging is 20 years old this week. It’s no longer a teenager and is now a proper adult, probably with a job and everything. Do you remember life before text? Obviously none of us can (ahem…) but ‘apparently’ people used to actually phone each other up and have conversations, on a telephone that was attached to the wall! Software engineer Neil Papworth sent the first text message on 3rd December 1992. Everyone said it wouldn’t last and was just a fad. In a way they might be right; after twenty years of growth, the amount of texting is finally slowing down. People increasingly have smart phones and are taking advantage of third party messaging tools and social media to send messages for ‘free’.…

Love Your Bike - Love, Love, Love These Airless Tyres.

Here at Network Marketing Towers we've got the odd fanatical biker (TeeJay to name but one!) and quite a few of us like to dust off and oil up the old mountain bike at the weekend. So when we spotted this ad on Jono Marcus's new site 'This Is Inkling' we just had to share it. Maybe I'm just a bit in the dark ages and haven't been reading my MTB Weekly religiously or maybe the price of these tyres just means they aren't even on our radar but Wow - what a fantastic invention. As the ad says, never pack a pump, tube, patch or tyre again - this is revolutionary but we hate to think how much it costs. Watch and enjoy.. http://youtu.be/v9SWIsY8rzQ And we actually think they look rather cool too!…
