Charlotte Lamb, Agency Consultant, Manchester
Overview of experience:
Following a stint in PR and Hospitality Marketing with the now titan chain Living Ventures, I joined Network Marketing in 2014 and flew through the ranks to be amongst the fastest promoted to Tier 1 Consultant!
I work on the advertising and integrated agency market in the North West, in partnership with some of the leading agencies in the country, supporting and consulting with their growth and finding them the best talent for award-winning campaigns.
- How did you get into recruitment?
While working in hospitality I was constantly approached by companies saying they thought I’d be fantastic at it; although a little sceptical at first, I sat down with a few friends in the industry, got myself a Rec 2 Rec Consultant (who’s still one of the best recruiter’s I’ve met) and started exploring my options.
I actually met with Network Marketing as a candidate looking for agency roles and got excellent vibes from the company and knew that’s where I should be!
- What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
There are two parts that make it really worthwhile - when you get a candidate their dream job and seeing them succeed. Being able to get them the introduction that they would struggle to get from their own contacts and guide them through the process to land them the job they’ve always wanted is a fantastic feeling. There’s nothing as good as seeing someone do well in something they love.
- What’s the most challenging part of your job?
We work with people, not products. Products aren’t inclined to not turn up for interviews, change their mind about what job they want at the last minute, or just vanish off the face of the earth. Managing, and being on the same wavelength, as both candidate and client throughout the process can be quite the challenge!
- What would you do (career-wise) if you weren’t doing this?
I’d most likely work in marketing, if someone would have me! Previous to recruitment I’d always pictured myself in client services with a creative or music partnerships agency.
- What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
Not that weird, but definitely the hardest; analyst roles. It’s a very specific skill set that a very small pool of people have. It makes the job very difficult to fill!
- What 3 traits best describe you?
Outgoing
Creative
Absolutely flipping hilarious
- What is your greatest fear?
The dark or slugs - or both at the same time.
- What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Music - I think I’d implode without it.
- Where is your favourite place to be?
At a gig with all of my friends - nothing beats it.
- What is your most overused phrase / word?
Like / bloody hell / darling (I’m a lovey at heart)
