If you’re keeping up with your social media channels you can’t possibly have missed the incessant build up to Christmas with all the leading retailers launching their Christmas campaigns last week. You may have noticed we reviewed the John Lewis ad which yet again tugged on the heart strings. The £7m blockbuster ad however was countered incredibly quickly with a parody from Goldie Lookin’ Chain, who used the popularity of the original ad to release a remix of John Lewis ads (past and present) that explores the somewhat depressing side of Christmas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYA-emYS51U From an accurate portrayal of unwanted gifts, to Arthur Fowlers breakdown on Eastenders in 2003 (younger readers – ask your parents…) GLC paints a rather dour picture. For a more upbeat view we quite like the Asda Christmas Ad!
